I had heard some interesting news that the longcoats or long hair german shepherd were going to be accepted by Germany.  I decided to see what I could find out about this, so went to pedigree data base forum and did a search for the information to see if it was there.  There were posts about this that I found very interesting.  Here is the post.

I am sure that someone will correct me, if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that in 2010,
the SV will “recognize”  the longcoats (those with an undercoat, only).  But, they are NOT to
be bred with the stockcoats and separate breed books, shows and surveys will be maintained
for them.   Otherwise the standard and breeding requirements will be the same.
